Mobilization

Ekta Parishad has a unique mobilization strategy for The Jan Satyagraha 2012 March. The march would mobilize a peace army of 100,000 persons. The coordination of the Jan Satyagraha 2012 March is being carried out by a management committee. It has already created the structure of the organizational team.

100,000 Padyatris (Foot-Marchers)
Every person is a padyatri on the 2012 March, and they should be ready for all eventualities on the foot-march. VANI supports the cause of Marginalized and Landless Poor

10,000 Village Leaders (Dustan Nayaks)
A village leader has about 10 padyatris to oversee, and the leader is responsible for communicating to the group the reasons for this event, and what they will face during the foot-march and how they need to prepare themselves. This is mainly done by their preparation of organizing village meetings.

2000 Section Leaders (Jathan Nayaks)
A section leader has 5 village leaders – or 5 villages – (including his/her own village) under command and is responsible for about 50 foot-marchers, depending on the number of people in the villages. The section leader’s role is to control the activities of the village leaders and to take care of possible problems. The section leader has, like the village leader, the responsibility of his/her own village. For his village, he fulfills the same work as a village leader.

200 Group Leaders (Dal Nayaks)
A group leader has 10 section leaders – or 50 villages – under their command (including his/her own village) and they are responsible for about 500 foot-marchers, depending on the number of people in the villages. The group leader’s role is to control the activities of the section leaders and to take care of possible problems. In sum, she/he has a bigger responsibility than the section leader because she/he has more villages under their care.VANI supports the cause of Marginalized and Landless Poor

20 Camp Leaders (Shivir Nayak)
A camp leader has 20 group leaders – or 500 villages – under command (including his own village) and is responsible for about 5000 foot-marchers, depending on the number of people in the villages. The group leader’s role is to control the activities of the group leaders and to take care of possible problems. In summary, he/she has a bigger responsibility than the group leader because he/she has more villages to take care of.

Senior Leaders
At the top of the peace army structure, Rajagopal is the leader and President of Ekta Parishad. Ran Singh Parmar is the overall camp leader and National Convenor of Ekta Parishad, and both of them lead 20 camp leaders and are responsible of 1000 villages, which is equal to the total number of villages under the different levels of section and village leaders.  One of Ran Singh’s role is to backstop the entire logistics of the Jan Satyagraha 2012 March.

Providing training for villagers on Ekta Parishad`s tools to obtain a familiarity with non-violent social action. Some of the tools are acts of civil disobedience (sit-ins, blockades, surroundings), youth and cadre-building camps (to build leadership and decision-making), womens leadership formation, public hearings etc. VANI supports the cause of Marginalized and Landless Poor

As announced at Jantar Mantar by Ekta Parishad National Convenor Ran Singh Parmar, ‘Mobilization across the country would start from October 2011 to September 2012. This march will last one year and will start in Orissa. Rajagopal will walk from village to village in 12 states in order to involve people in the Jan Satyagraha 2012 March. He will gather grievances but also attract media attention for the issues of the marginalized poor. He will finish his walk in Gwalior, just in time for Jan Satyagraha 2012 March, after having covered more than 6,000 kilometers.
