People deprived of basic facilities even after 65

27 May 2012, Sehore

At Raisen headquarters on May 27, the Ekta Parishad organized a press meet in which anti-poor government policies were highlighted with mention of how the commitment made by the Government in Janadesh 2007 was not met and how was the preparation of Jansatyagrah 2012. First stop of Yatra was at Silvani tehsil of Raisen district where a public meeting was organized which was attended by a large number of nearby villagers. Addressing the meeting, social worker Tikaram said that there were varieties of problems in the Silvani as Forest Right claims were not being settled and schools had no sufficient number of teachers. Earliar there was a hostel in Narayanpur but not today. The revenue land, which was source of livelihoods for occupant tribal families, had been transformed into a pond. While addressing this meeting, Balbir Singh Tomer said that corruption was rampant in Silvani tehsil. For last six months, grains and oil was not available in Government stores. Prabhudada said that despite the tehsil being close to state capital, there was consistent unjustice with the poor. So to get rid of this unfair system, around 500 people of this area would participate in Jansatyagraha. The second stop of Yatra was Jatgadh where a public meeting was organized by the Ekta Parishad. Addressing the meeting, Mukhiya of the village, Dashrath Prasad informed that villages like Jaitgaon, Bhejiya Belgaon and Kartoli were initially situated on revenue land but were now declared as forest villages. These villages are under dispute between the revenue and forest departments and are therefore far away from mainstream development. There was lack of drinking water in these villages. The entry and exit ways were closed by the forest department. It was only when the Forest Minister arrived in the village on 2nd February that ways were opened.
