Bodo land is affected by Forest Mafia

First stoppage of the yatra was at village Gouriganj of district Dhubri, where a meeting was organised by Shrimant Shankar Dev Sewa Sangh. The group also visited bordering bodoland areas where large scale illegal felling of trees is underway. This has resulted in livelihood problems before the forest dwellers of Rupsi range in Kokrajhar district. Due to illegal felling of trees, there has been a decline in collection of forest produce which is resulting in unemployment. The villagers shared that regional developmental work should have been done by the Bodo Autonomous Council but no efforts were made in this direction on ground. They also said that forest Mafia is behind destruction
